AP Scholar Press Release 2017

YPS STUDENTS ACHIEVE ADVANCED PLACEMENT AWARDS

 

Thirty-eight Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar Awards were awarded to Yukon High School students in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP exams.

The College Board’s AP program provides willing and academically-prepared students the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school and earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP exams.

The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on the exams.

Yukon High School had five students qualify for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Riley Adams, Emily Crane, Brooklynn LiCastro, Claire McWilliams, and Tien Tran.

Madison Wrather qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

Thirty-two students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams with scores of 3 or higher. The AP scholars are Jonathan Allen, Carson Ball, Bethany Bennett, Brandon Cacini-Tate, William Callan, Jessica Canales, Brittany Carr, Raley Cherry, Layne Coppage, Braden Crawford, Curtis Diaz, Kimberly Downing, Lane Flowers, Maddelyn Freyman, Keeley Hutchison, Lynnette Lewis, Brooke Loveland, Lauren Nemecek, Asia Nguyen, Brandon Nguyen, Natalie Nichols, Madelyn Novosad, Jackson Ocker, Lauren Penland, Javier Ruiz, Emma sauser, Blaine Smith, Nicole Stevens, Evan Tharp, Rylan Vandlandingham, Raina Wedel, Emma Wright, and Madison Wrather.

To ensure alignment with standards expected at the nation’s leading universities, a committee of college and university faculty and AP teachers develops each exam.  Additionally, participating in a variety of the 34 college-level courses and exams helps students to stand out in the college admission process.
