Birthday Book Program
Parkland has instituted a new policy for recognizing student birthdays. Rather than centering your child's birthday around sugar-filled treats, donate a book in your child's name to his or her classroom. This not only allows you to give a lasting gift, but also promotes an educational purpose.
Parkland now has the prestigious recognition of being a Schools for Healthy Lifestyles participant. We all know that talk is cheap and actions speak louder. Therefore, we are putting our plan into action!
We are prohibiting birthday party treats of any kind (food, balloons, goodie bags, etc.) and replacing them with an educational resource.
The Birthday Book Program allows your child to celebrate a birthday and reading all in one. Being a part of the Schools for Healthy Lifestyles program coupled with numerous Parkland students having severe allergic reactions to specific foods and latex products, we feel this new policy will better serve our student body and staff.
Thank you for supporting this positive change for Parkland Elementary!
