Independence Elementary School

Hello Families and Friends of Independence Elementary,

As you can see our web page has become a great source for both you and us. This fall season has ushered in a lot of activities and information important to you and your children. Please take a few minutes and investigate further the IES web pages.

As you know the first quarter of this year is quickly approaching and the proof will be in the pudding so to speak if everyone is on the right track. I want to, over the next few weeks, share a few bits of insight that may help you continue the positive outcomes achieved by your children this far or possibly help give insight into what you may want to try next!

Steps to great grades can be as easy as talking with your children or as complicated as developing a new routine in your entire household. One of the first steps to helping your child is to discover what kind of a student he or she really is. Do they complete all homework on their own? Do they come prepared for school or do they always seem to be calling you at work to “save the day”? Do they use their time wisely? Do they really understand what they read or do they just read the words? Are they happy with their accomplishments? With a little creative planning you can find out these answers, or maybe you already know. The real question is once you know these answers, what are you going to do with that information?
In order to be successful you have to believe in yourself and in your abilities. Whether you’re a runner preparing for a race or a student trying to understand a new subject, it’s important that you believe in yourself. You need to recognize the talents and abilities you have. Parents, take the next few opportunities to point out what you see your children do that is right on target. Keep reminding them of their accomplishments. Give them a hug and use their name. Things like this always get their attention.

Be watching next week for a few more tips to success and remember we really love your children.
