Yukon High School Band
2010-2011
Mission Statement
The Yukon High School Band is a music-making community where students are given the tools and encouragement necessary for individual and group success. Members utilize determination, pride, discipline, and passion for music to achieve goals. Their top priority is excellence of product and process.
Marching Band and Concert Band
This group includes both marching and concert band and students are required to participate in both areas. The marching season begins with required preschool marching rehearsals in August and extends through football season. Students are encouraged to pursue individual musical success by participating in solo and ensemble contests and auditioning for CODA and All-State Honor Organizations. Early morning (before school) rehearsals are held throughout the year and attendance is required. Previous knowledge on an instrument and successful completion of previous year’s band course is required before enrolling in High School Band. Students are required to attend all functions of the band and to devote time to improving themselves on their instruments.

Yukon High School Jazz Band
2010-2011
Yukon High School Jazz Band is for the serious musician intent upon advancing his talent in instrumental music. Self-discipline, poise, self-confidence, positive attitude, and cooperation with others are qualities that are nurtured in this class. Performance is stressed. All types of pop music are studied: ballad, rock, swing, time, and improvisation. Students are selected by audition from the High School Band and must remain enrolled in band.
