History

In 1891 the Yukon Public School's District opened its doors in a small one room Frame building. Since then the school system has grown to a school population in the year 2006 of over 6600 students.

The district is organized on four levels. Seven pre-kindergarten through fifth grade elementary schools, two middle schools - sixth through eighth grade, a high school campus consisting of south campus which includes ninth and tenth grades, and a north campus, which houses eleventh and twelfth grades.

The Yukon Public School District is fully accredited by the Oklahoma State Depart¬ment of Education. Further, the high school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.

Yukon has received the highest rating, a Five Star ranking from the North Central Association in each of five categories.
