Board Members

 

David Moore
President

David Moore was elected to the School Board in 2007 representing Post #2 and currently serves as President of the Board of Education. David was born and grew up in the Texas panhandle. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas in 1966 and his MBA from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam during 1968-69. Mr. Moore was an executive with an Oklahoma-based insurance company for 30 years until his retirement in 2004. During his career, he was active in numerous civic and mentoring programs. He was honored to be named PSI’s Oklahoma City “Executive of the Year” in 1989-90. He has lived in Yukon for the last 18 years. Since his retirement, he has served on the Yukon Planning Commission from 2003-2006 and Integris Regional Valley Hospital Board from 2000 – present, serving as Chairman from 2005-2007. He is an active member of Good News Church.
 







Karen Youngblood
Vice President

Karen Youngblood was elected to the School Board in 2008 representing Post #3 and currently serves as Vice President for the Board of Education. Karen is the Director for Staff Leadership Development and External Leadership Training at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). She is charged with designing and implementing programs that support UCO’s mission as “The Leadership University” through innovative instruction and programs for staff members as well as events which involve the broader Central Oklahoma community of parents, teachers, and professionals. 



John Nail
Clerk

John Nail was elected to the School Board in 2000 representing Post #5 and currently serves as Clerk for the Board of Education. He graduated magna cum laude with a master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. Prior to starting his construction company, Mr. Nail helped with the family homebuilding business and was a stonemason contractor. From there, he went on to teach construction for 14 years at Canadian Valley Vo Tech Center. When he’s not building dream homes or serving on the school board, Mr. Nail presents motivational seminars to schools and businesses. 



Jeff Deckard
Deputy Clerk

Jeff Deckard is currently serving as Deputy Clerk of the Board of Education, representing School Board Post #4.  Jeff has coached baseball and taught Alternative Education at Yukon High School. He worked for the City of Yukon for several years and is currently working in private industry.  

 






Stephen Geries
Member

Steve Geries was elected to the School Board in 2005 representing Post #1 and currently serves a member of the Board of Education. Mr. Geries graduated from High School in Farwell, Texas and received his B.S. Degree in 1993 from West Texas A&M University. He received a MBA from Oklahoma City University in 2001 as well as his Juris Doctor degree. Steve began his practice with Collins, Zorn & Wagner, P.C. in 2003 after having served as Assistant District Attorney in Lincoln County. He is an active member of Yukon Church.

Regular meetings of the Board of Education are held at the Administration Building at 600 Maple, on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 PM.  All meetings are open to the public, and patrons are always welcome. The annual school board elections are held on the second Tuesday in February.  If a runoff election is necessary, it will be held the first Tuesday in April.
