Community

Yukon's greatest resource is truly its people. Since its organization as a township, the citizens of Yukon have believed in providing the highest quality education for their children. The tremendous amount of parental support for the schools is one of the key factors that gives Yukon Public Schools a Five Star Educational Rating.

HELPING HAND VOLUNTEERS:
This is a model program for other schools. Thousands of volunteer hours are contributed to better educate the youth of Yukon. In addition to the volunteer program, each of the seven elementary schools, both middle schools and the high school enjoy the efforts of very active parent-teacher support organizations.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM:
The school system responds to the needs of the community by offering programs for individuals of all ages throughout the entire calendar year. Classes are available for children, as well as adults in a variety of subjects. "Open Door" before and after school child care is available for students at all Yukon elementary schools.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL:
The council meets monthly for the sole purpose of facilitating communications between the community and educators. The public is invited to attend, hear the latest educational developments, ask questions and submit suggestions.
