Virtual School
On Monday, June 6, 2011, the Yukon School District presented to the Board of Education, information related to the implementation of Yukon’s Virtual School Model. Starting July 1, 2011, Yukon Schools will begin the application process for students that are interested in participating in a virtual school option for the school year 2011-2012.
Yukon Public Schools entered into an agreement with the Canadian Valley eSchool Network to provide virtual school to students that are interested in this type of learning environment. The purpose of the network is to provide an organized approach in the utilization of the E2020 Virtual Classroom software and curriculum. Parents interested in enrolling their students in a total Virtual School environment must complete all required paperwork provided by Yukon PS in addition to the an Internet Based Instruction Policy, Academic Integrity Statement, and Parent Support Agreement. Full time students of Yukon Schools will also benefit from this program through additional opportunities and services that will aid in the support of their instructional process. Students can participate in course work to recover missing credits, remediate content and receive accelerated course work. Each of these options will fall under one of five categories; credit recovery, remediation, alternative education, dropout prevention or accelerated programs. This NEW program will help meet the needs of 21st century learning for students and teachers. The Yukon School District has established a website with a feedback form and complied FAQ’s to help stakeholders to better understand how Virtual School might benefit their student, the district and our community.
