Curriculum
It is Yukon Public Schools' belief that all children are unique individuals, capable and creative. We believe that the educational experience should be structured to provide an appropriate environment in which children can grow emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically. The curriculum of Yukon's School System is arranged to benefit the students academically and prepare them effectively for advanced education or an easy transition to the work force. Strong emphasis is placed on basic education skills at each level. Every effort is made to maintain an aligned curriculum, which tests students on information they are expected to learn. This information is included in the instruction they receive.

Professional Development
Yukon Public Schools places a strong emphasis on ongoing Professional Development for the faculty and staff.  We believe that it is a key contributor for personal and professional growth and directly impacts student achievement.  The Professional Development program contributes to the "Excellence of Education" in Yukon Public Schools.

Assessment
The Office of Curriculum and Instruction also assists in the implementation and administration of the Oklahoma School Testing Program (OSTP).  The OSTP requires the administration of criterion-referenced tests to students in Grades 3-8 and the secondary level for specific content areas. Oklahoma's Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS) serve as a set of specific school standards covering all areas of a student's academic growth. The criterion-referenced tests are aligned with Oklahoma's PASS standards.  The assessments are utilized to measure student achievement relative to the PASS standards.  Over the next three years, the Office of Curriculum and Instruction will be guiding teachers in transitioning to the Common Core State Standards.  These standards are performance based and will be fully implemented by the 2014-2015 school year.
