Free & Reduced Application Information
The Child nutrition program participates in the National School Lunch program which allows any family that qualifies according to the criteria set by the USDA may be eligible for free or reduced meals.
Below you will find the link for the 2008/2009 Free and Reduced meal application for the Yukon Public Schools’ Child Nutrition Program. It is very important for you to complete and return this application, not only for the benefit it can provide your child, but also for the benefit that it provides for your child’s school. Re-application is needed every year.
The return of this application may help provide a wholesome lunch for your child. But even if he/she does not eat in the cafeteria, it is still very important for you to return this application.
Funding for your child’s school is impacted directly by this process. If you would help us by returning this application, the District child count may increase. This number is then used when State and Federal funds are allocated. Grant awards for schools are also based on this child count. Your child’s school can receive additional revenue that is used to hire staff and to purchase school supplies and materials that improve your child’s learning environment.
Also, you may be eligible for free or low-cost health insurance for your child. Look at Part 7 on the back of the application regarding Free Sooner Care Health Benefits. (You are not required to complete this to get meal benefits). Eligibility for free or reduced lunch and/or Sooner Care does not count toward your 5 years of eligibility for TANF.
We ask for your cooperation, and will be happy to assist you in completing this form, if necessary. The names of students receiving these free/reduced benefits are kept confidential. Be sure to sign, include how often you are paid and your social security number so that the application will not be sent back and delay getting your children on the program.
Parents are responsible for any charges incurred while application is being processed.
